Essex House is a part of the beautiful residential neighborhood facing the Sarasota Bay, located in the City of Sarasota's downtown commercial, cultural and arts district.

Although we are in a quieter area of downtown Sarasota, within a few minutes walk, you will find an endless array of activities and the exhilarating mixture of eateries, antique shops, spas and salons, a brand new library, book stores, boutiques and specialty shops.

Our neighborhood is a collage of big city amenities and small town ease of living. International restaurants, art galleries, live theater, opera and world-class accommodations abound and are within walking distance of Essex House. Our bustling downtown is being revitalized and enriched with exciting new businesses including a new Plaza at Five Points, the Whole Foods Market and of course, the Lemon Avenue Streetscape.

All residents of Essex House enjoy the nearby Bayfront Park with its meandering walkway along the shore — punctuated by native palm trees and foliage, swings, benches, boat docks, a children's waterpark, internationally renowned sculpture and fountains. The calm surf makes rolling up your pant legs and wading for shells a favorite past time and on any given weekend you will find people of all ages and nationalities enjoying our park.

Just across Palm Avenue is a popular, intimate little theater, The Burns Court Cinemas. A charitable, nonprofit organization The Sarasota Film Society is committed to bringing the best art, foreign and independent films to Sarasota at Burns Court Cinemas.

Another jewel in our crown is Selby Gardens - the tropical oasis recently named one of America's Top Ten Botanical Gardens. There we can visit the open-air and under-glass museum of thousands of orchids and bromeliads and stroll winding pathways along Sarasota Bay.
